The environmental protection agency and the department of energy create a State Energy Efficiency (SEE) Action Network to achieve state and national targets five years ahead of schedule.
A collaborative network established by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy (DOE) will assist states to achieve maximum cost effective energy efficiency improvements in homes, offices buildings and industry by 2020. A variety of stakeholders including state and local governments, associations, business leaders, public utility commissioners, and non-government organisations will participate in the State Energy Efficiency (SEE) Action Network.
Four working groups will advance consistent approaches and take on key issues to drive investment in energy efficiency. Working groups will include:
- Best Practices and national protocols for residential programme models
- Exchanging ideas for financing solutions
- Innovative new methods of evaluation, measurement and verification
- New insights on the impact of information on customer decisions
$500 Billion savings in Net energy
The initiative's National Action Plan Vision for 2025: A Framework for Change, last updated in 2008, outlines strategies to cut the growth in U.S. energy demand in half, achieving $500 billion in net energy savings and substantial reductions in greenhouse gas emissions by 2025. The SEE Action Network aims to reach these targets five years early.
The SEE Action Network will drive energy efficiency by using a broad set of goals presented in the National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency. A new billing system will provide consumers with consistent information on their energy use and costs. This information will also assist states in developing stronger policies that will ensure robust energy efficiency practices.
