The UK-based company providing advice, products and services that are progressive in terms of energy efficiency, sustainability and low environmental impact will soon present its “Very Environmentally Friendly” heat pump air conditioning split systems to the hydrocarbons21.com community.
Earthcare Products: New Partner joins hydrocarbons21.com
The overall aim of all products and services of Earthcare Products is to minimise the environmental impact through the combination of natural refrigerants and optimised efficiency. The company’s wide product range consists of heat pump air conditioning systems, ground source heat pumps, HC chillers for all sizes, and new natural refrigerants blends.

The development of “Very Environmentally Friendly” (VEF) heat pump air conditioning split systems, soon to be presented on hydrocarbons21.com, were partly funded by the UK Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions under the "Partners in Technology” scheme. They resulted in an efficiency gain of 20% over the original R22 systems. Presenting them for the first time at the Nuremberg IKK exhibition, Earthcare could already build on one decade of experience and success with the VEF split systems.

A sustainable future with vision, action and commitment

Another project showing the company’s pioneering work was conducted at the Church House building in Westminster, London. In 2007, Earthcare Products supplied Britain’s largest ever hydrocarbon refrigerant chiller for a building services application and proved that larger HC units can be used safely in the urban environment. The range of Earthcare’s chillers features efficiency, reliability and low running costs while delivering very large cooling outputs of up to 1,265kW. Using the same hydrocarbon refrigerant R-290, the ground-source heat pump range has as well not only environmental benefits but is very cost-effective. Some projects realized by Earthcare Products resulted in an up to 80% reduction in energy costs.

Although the company is making its principal sales in large commercial air conditioning chillers and small commercial air conditioning split systems, the development of new blends of refrigerants is also an important business area for Earthcare. To overcome some drawbacks of selected refrigerants, such as the high GWP (Global Warming Potential) of the chemical R410A or the low critical temperature of the natural R744, the company has developed several mixtures to benefit from the different advantages of the mainly natural refrigerants. These blends are designed for all kinds of applications: the azeotropic hydrocarbon blend is suitable for domestic and commercial air conditioning, as well as heat pumps. Another blend can be used for industrial process, food and blast freezing applications.

Earthcare’s clients and projects are as varied as their projects are. Among them are both private businesses and the public sector, including: Heathrow Terminal 5, Horsham Arts Centre, Forensic Science Service, Transport For London, Middlesex University, Brighton Library, National Trust, Church Of England, Local Authorities from Derby to the New Forest, Many hospital trusts including Great Ormond Street.
