Providing small retailers with the opportunity to minimise both direct and indirect emissions associated with their refrigeration, Husky has upgraded its open-fronted multideck chiller cabinets to incorporate natural refrigerant R290.

Global refrigeration group Husky has upgraded its top-of-the-range open-fronted multideck chiller cabinets to incorporate natural refrigerant R290, reports TalkingRetail.com, a provider of news concerning food retail. With this move, Husky gives smaller retailers and convenience stores the same technological advantages as large supermarkets, in other words the opportunity to minimise both direct and indirect emissions associated with their refrigeration through the use of natural refrigerant gas R290.

"Not only has environmental concern become a real decider in the market place, but the recession has also caused an increased focus on energy consumption. Our new improved Mega Cavern multidecks meet the needs of today's market conditions perfectly", said Husky Chief Executive Geoff Thomasson.

The enhanced multideck

The enhancements apply to the Husky Ultra M9 0.9m, M125 1.25m and M17 1.7m Mega Cavern multidecks, which offer display areas of 2.2, 2.7 and 3.3 sq m respectively, along with glass side panels for maximum product visibility. The multideck, thus features:
  • Propane (R290) hydrocarbon refrigerant that does not deplete the ozone layer or add to the greenhouse effect and requires less energy than its R404a predecessor. This allows to minimise the impact of the multideck on the environmental, while realising energy savings.
  • A new power sledge that enables the machine unit to be removed for servicing and a new one slipped into its place within seconds.
  • High insulation level and a turbo air curtain that prevents any cold air from escaping, minimising running costs
The Mega Cavern multidecks are offered both unbranded and branded for example for Pepsi and Stella Artois.
