A two-day event, Refrigerants Review, is to take place on 20-21 March in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Supported by the Dubai Municipality and the government of Dubai the conference will seek to identify an ideal refrigerant for various applications.

The Climate Control Middle East magazine in collaboration with the CPI Industry is organising the first round of debates labelled as Refrigerants Review in the United Arab Emirates that will bring together industry associations, government bodies and end-users. Participants will include representatives of the Lebanese Ministry of Environment, the US Department of State, the US Environment Protection Agency, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel (TEAP) of the Montreal Protocol and others.

2-day structure of the event

Refrigerants Review will be structured into 2 days, in a manner that will allow participants to understand better the implications involved and to look on what refrigerants are available in the market.

During the first day, the participants will have the opportunity to learn about refrigerants from a broader perspective, find out about the latest developments and the policies that support the deployment of refrigerants. As part of the presentations, marketing & communications expert shecco will present the first edition of the GUIDE to natural refrigerants that focuses on market potential of natural working fluids in Europe and beyond. The second day will be dedicated to more specific technical presentations, with case studies in all major refrigerant uses and panel discussions.

Event objectives

The aim of the event is to determine a set of key recommendations based on the review of the refrigerants. It will also discuss possible solutions in relation to reclaiming and recycling of refrigerants as well as methods to identify and prevent refrigerant leaks.

In September 2012, a second round of the Refrigerants Review will be held in Dubai to review follow-up measures and assess progress.
